Please find below details of how our Local Governing Body is structured, including the names, categories, responsibilities and terms of appointment for each Governor.

    The Local Governing Body

St Mary’s Church of England Primary School is an academy within Inspiring Primaries Academy Trust. The Trustees delegate a number of strategic decisions to the Local Governing Body of the school.

The Local Governing Body of St. Mary’s is responsible for setting the aims of the school, agreeing policies for achieving the aims and objectives, and acting as a critical friend through monitoring and evaluation. The Executive Principal, supported by the Head of School, has responsibility for internal organisation, management and control of the school and for the implementation of the strategic framework established by the Local Governing Body. Governors are not expected to be involved in the day-to-day management of the school. The Local Governing Body meets at least three times each academic year. It delegates some responsibilities to committees which meet when required throughout the year.

    Our committees are:

    • Admissions
    • Complaints and Exclusions (as required)
    • Pay Committee

Foundation Governors are appointed by the Diocesan Board of Education, staff governors are elected by the staff and parent governors by the parent body. The term of office is four years for all categories of governors at the school except for ex-officio.
