St Mary's Church of England Primary School

SEN

The Special Educational Needs Code of Practice (2015) drawn up by the Department for Education and Department of Health operates within the school.

Our Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Co-ordinator (SENDCo) is Miss Ward.  Our SEND Governor is Mrs Ruth Craggs. Both can be contacted on stmarys@ipat.uk or 01455 552818.

The SENDCo regularly reviews with other staff, the provision for and progress of children who have been identified with SEND. The Class Teacher has formal meetings with parents / carers at least once a term, to report on the progress of the child and the SEND Support Plan in place. At this meeting future needs are discussed with parents / carers.

It may be necessary for some children to have an Educational, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) which will be drawn up  in consultation with external professionals, parents / carers, the child and the school.

Please find below our Policy for Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities and our local offer.

The purpose of all Local Offers is to:

To provide clear, comprehensive and accessible information about the available provision and how to access it. To make provision more responsive to local needs and aspirations by directly involving disabled children and those with SEN and their parents, and disabled young people and those with SEN and service providers in its development and review.
